The mise en scene is a huge feature in this video.

Surroundings such as grim streets and a gym matches the grime genre and the narrative.

Costume is another crucial part of mise en scene as we see Tempz wearing common/casual clothing such as tracksuits ect. These compliment other aspects of the mise en scene as well as the genre.

Music video analysis - Tempa T Next Hype

One of the most noticeable effects the the extended lens which creates the circular effect.

The circular effect connotes the idea that the world of the video is slightly twisted and Tempz is in his own little world.

As seen is this particular shot many takes include mid-close ups of Tempz which creates focus around him.

Andrew Goodwin's ideas

Andrew Goodwin identifies five key aspects of music videos that we the audience should look out for ...

- Synaesthesia (seeing the sounds in your head). This is a relation of music and lyrics to visual concepts.
- Narrative and performance. Goodwin explains that music videos should ignore common narrative as it is important in their role of 'advertising'.
- Star image. Describing the development of the star over time through the narrative.
- Relation of visuals to the song ...
(Illustrative - Narrative matches the lyrics and genre).
(Amplifying - Meanings and effects are manipulated and constantly shown).
(Disjunctive - This is where the meaning of the song is completely ignored).

Production

During this task the most prominent thing that I learnt was that working as part of a larger group with 7/8 people makes the filming process much more difficult than in a smaller group. This means that communication needs to be clear between the group in order for the project to be a success.

Production: Digital Technology

Having done Media at AS level, there was at least a basic understanding of production technology used within the subject. At first there was a few problems with the edit suite: Premier Pro. As the original clips were not saved in the correct area (D drive) this meant when I loaded the project for the second time the media was not available to me and I had to import the clips again.

I had also forgotten the full process of exporting the final edit from Premier Pro, and uploading it to You Tube which meant I needed help but means that I am now able to do this correctly.

During the A2 year I would like to become totally competent at using the Edit suite. Although I have a good understanding of it now, there will be things I still need to pick up.

Research and Planning

The planning task which I found the most useful was the story board. This is because it made the filming process much easier as it gave us an idea of how the camera should be positioned and where cast should be placed in the frame.

I feel that Planning would have been more effective if we had considered areas such as props and where they would be placed during filming. Since there was no clear plan for this it meant it took time away from filming and had to be done in the last minute.

The kind of planning I expect to be doing during A2 year include ...

-Shot lists
-Shooting scripts
-Storyboard
-Props list
-Casting
-Research of current media
-Location planning

Introduction

The task I have been carrying out is a re-creation of the music video for the Busted track, 'That's what I go to school for'.
